Wow, I was drawn into this mystery from the start. Jane Harper sets a stunning stage in the Australian Outback with isolated, desolated ranching properties so far removed from contact with others you have to keep your car constantly stocked with survival gear, there’s only one road leading in and out of anywhere, and if someone gets into trouble, it’s almost impossible to locate their car in the blinding sunlight. Just incredible the way you’re transported there through the writing.
Two brothers come together because of a tragedy. And yet there are more questions than answers. As we’re drawn further in to this character-driven tale, things just get more and more twisted. I’ll admit to being in the dark as to how the mystery would turn out, with lots of possible motives presented, and as we got near the end, I was surprised yet again! A lonely, desolate, well-woven tale.
