Gothic horror is usually one of my favorite genres, but this one wasn’t doing it for me
The story seemed to allude to vampirism both in the first 1/4 of the book and the blurb on both Goodreads and StoryGraph. It was not that at all. I think it was closer to the anime Parasyte.
I don’t think I could love anyone enough to love their parasite driven zombie body….
I thought it was cool to have a bog mummy, and also a character named Lucy, even if they were the same character. The historical parallels were pretty cool!
The fact that Art-ur (Arthur?) know that Lucy had been seduced my Michael and didn’t explain his reasons. Ugh. Men. I think Lucy could have had a very different life if she’d have known. And I think a lot of things wouldn’t have happened. But hey, the lies of men ruining things? Nothing can be more historically accurate.
