The Edge of the Abyss by Emily Skrutskie

4.0

This is like version 2.0. of[b:The Abyss Surrounds Us|24790901|The Abyss Surrounds Us (The Abyss Surrounds Us, #1)|Emily Skrutskie|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1431014825l/24790901._SY75_.jpg|44425139].
It’s upgraded.

The relationship between Cas and Swift is even more developed.

I like how they actually have a healthy enemies-to-lovers relationship?? Like they never intentionally hurt each other and even when they are not talking or distancing they still care for each other. I really love their dynamics and their dialogue. A great pair of leading characters.

The return of
SpoilerBao

I missed that little shit. The main enemy here is the consequences of human greed – a sea of monsters in other words. So there are a lot of fight scenes here. Some deaths. Some unexpected saviors. A somewhat expected ending that goes in everyone’s favor. Am I the only one who would have
Spoilerkilled Murphy? Cas is a better person than me though.

Anyway, I am sad the books were so short, I also felt that this would have been better in a one-volume book, it would be like a story in two parts? Like someone could do the drawings for the monsters? That would be cool.

I enjoyed this series very much and would want to read more, Skrutskie keep on keeping on.
