This book is beautifully written, filled with reflections on nature, childhood and storytelling. The character of Landon is a source of comfort for the Betty and the rest of the family, but he also felt like a safe and reliable person to read about in contrast to a lot of the other characters, especially Betty’s mother Alka.
Overall I found Betty brilliant and eye opening, but there are so many triggering themes and several times it was too much to read - incest, suicide and animal abuse to name a few.
