This is Falling
by Ginger Scott
There's nothing spectacular about the book blurb, but I was hooked. Call me a sucker for traumatized girl saved by the night in shining armor story..
I just wish there was more depth to the characters. They seemed trivial and stuck in high school still. Rowe gets a pass. She IS stuck in high school, feeling jipped because she missed out on all those experiences. So her character, while annoying after a zillion pages to still be so immature, is more true to reality. But his?? Nope. He's a jock. Nate should be strong. Confident (oober baseball star!). More of an alpha male.
Instead, he seemed weak, too sensitive. Protective but not enough. Jealous but not really. Strong, but refers to other dudes as "wide" (????). He loves but it's not life altering love. Even his love of baseball seemed half baked, and the whole my-brother-made-me-love-it-for-myself was glossed over and didn't feel genuine.
I liked it less and less the longer I read.
