Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents: How to Heal from Difficult, Rejecting, or Self-Involved Parents by Lindsay C. Gibson

Did not finish book. Stopped at 79%.
before you try to send me back to therapy, hear me out.

at chapter 8 this book gives only one option. to emotionally detach from your parents but to still speak to them. that’s not who i am or who i ever will be. it gives no other options and paints this as the only correct way, showing no nuance or gray areas in your feelings or relationships with your parent(s). i wouldn't say i necessarily Liked this book beforehand but. i stomached most of it. the internalizer/externalizer thing was not great where we blame other children who are also in bad home lives?? but whatever. there were helpful things in here but the end just had me tuning out.
