General Comments: There is a level of emotional and historical sophistication within the ‘Shadow and Bone’ fantasy that sets it apart. Sultry, sweeping and picturesque, it is a world that feels real enough to have its own passport stamp. However, the poignant romance is a developmental down-fall; lack-lustre, plain and infuriatingly annoying; combined with an anti-climactic end, the series is merely mediocre.

Favourite Quote: ‘Na razrusha’ya. I am not ruined. E’ya razrushost. I am ruination.’
