I love a good monster romance, and this has potential. It was like a Handmaids Tale meets Hunger Games dystopian future where women 18-25 are chosen by lottery to go from The Above (Earth) to The Below. Not much is known about The Below except women are never seen again.
To me the set up of the very minimal action was too long and drawn out. "Plot" or "action" came in awkward spurts in the last 40% of the book, where it felt rushed - as did the conclusion.
