The Martian Chronicles
by Ray Bradbury
i would give this a 3.75, though my least favorite of his that i've read yet. i think i just have trouble with loosely related short stories. without a continuing story line/characters, i forget whatever i read last. but the stories were good, i esp liked the last one about the picnic for a million years. the chronology of the stories was pretty cool, the way it started with martians but then humans from earth came. it didn't seem like they ever lived side by side that much, but then the humans sort of took over and mars started experiencing the same problems that earth had had. then there was a huge war on earth and almost everyone went home, except for walter gripp and unattractive genevieve. that story was funny for sure. the book did have some very nice imagery, and i liked the part about how the martians could simulate imaginary surroundings/people, to make humans act a certain way.
