I think the messed up stuff people do in reality is the reason I rarely read things so based in it. The horrors that humanity, without anyone else's influence, can inflict upon itself skeeve me out. Least you can get some good advice on how to survive some issues in Hollie Overton's "A Mother's Guide to the Apocalypse" (out 19 August 2025).

If you know the world is ending what would you do? Olivia Sullivan can see the end coming and prepares for it, wanting to make sure her daughters are taken care of. Too bad she died in the beginning of the end. But her daughters find her guide years later, a guide their father never mentioned but used to make sure they were ready. Well the guide and the note from her mother's friend claiming to know where she is, wonder what that is all about.

Narrated by Eleanor Caudill, the casual reveal of information to flummox the English in a terrible situation was excellent

Reasons to read:
-Tired of people pointing out the rather obvious feature you share with siblings
-Hey a family with a lot more baggage than most other families
-Some solid advice about water purification
-Comeuppance against some people who just suck

Cons:
-Getting folks to explain a situation and not let it fester for a couple of days would have solved a good chunk of the situation
