Temple of the Winds
by Dick Hill, Terry Goodkind
DID NOT FINISH: 83%
I loved this series when I first read it as a young adult. It is still quite good, but I have some trouble getting through the violence, and the drama.
The narrator is awesome, despite the way he chose to pronounce Kahlen's name (Collin).
The violence is a little too much, but more so I had trouble getting through it because of the drama. The character in this series face a plethora of neverending problems they have to deal with. Usually multiple things at a time. I found myself figuratively rolling my eyes and thinking to myself "So dramatic...". Particularly during thewedding scene at the temple site. Kahlen's inner turmoil, and then Richard's reaction was hard to stomach.
I had a hard time getting through the last part of this audiobook. The decision to quit altogether was made afterRichard went into the temple, leaving Kahlen devastated. Reading through it might be easier than listening to it being read.
There is an element to each book that is extremely distasteful, and the characters can be dramatically emotional. It gets old - especially when it drags on in audio format.
