Summer Bird Blue by Akemi Dawn Bowman

Okay. Not me tearing up a little.
This book focuses on grief, healing, relationships (such as with her mother), but also with self-growth and self-reflection. It was honestly better than I thought it would be and many of the characters grew on me. (Mr. Watanabe!!) It felt more juvenile of course, but that is because it is quite literally about a 17-year old girl, so no surprise there. Her exploration of sexuality was another aspect I really like, especially considering  I am on the ace spectrum myself. Overall, a really well-done, beautiful and enjoyable book.
