This is a delightful screwball comedy set in the same world as The Ornithologist's Guide to Love, although there are no character crossovers.
Elodie and Gabriel, both professors of (magical) geography, have a marriage of convenience to help Gabriel get an apartment. The apartment falls through, and after a night of passion, they studiously avoid each other for a year, despite secretly pining for each other.
The same loopy humor and weird magic runs through the book as in all of Holton's books, and this moves at a brisk pace as the two professors are thrown together to fix a magical rift in Wales, careening from disaster to disaster.
