i read this book in one day. it's a very titillating read. i mean it would have be an average read but the somewhat disturbing parts made it more grittier.
when howard poured the sludge from his decaying body to noemi, made me sick to my stomach. i am lowkey a germaphobe but i love dark themed media. i'm repulsed and fascitnated at the same time. but i'm not gonna lie, virgil's rape attempts made me extremely uncomfortable.

i liked the characters, they feel tangible for me. although, the supposed mystery is held back halfway through the book, i think it could've been executed better than that.
the fantasy element only jumped out in the last half of the book. i can see why it's a withheld information as an attempt for a surprise factor—i mean, it's not even mentioned in the blurb of the book—but the info dump in the middle of the book kind of turned me off.
it's a very satisfying read nonetheless. something to recommend to a friend.
