I dreamt once that I was teaching at a school where Philyaw was going to give a guest lecture. I was so excited to have her sign my book (the secret lives of church ladies). But when the moment came, I realized I had brought a book by a completely different author. Philyaw was very understanding and waited for me to commute to and from my house to get the right book. I think this is to say that this book spoke to me even on a subconscious level and I am happy to have found comfort in it. Maybe one day I will really have Philyaw sign my copy!
