It was good. I like some of the characters. I never warmed up to Lena. She seemed very naive and self centered, although she made it seem like she was trying to protect her loved ones, that seemed naive also. To get involved in what she wanted to get involved with, would only bring attention to the people she care about. She became involved to make herself feel useful. Yes, she thought it was to better the human rights, but that also was over her head. When she, the smart girl that she is made out to be, is obviously over her head, she doesn't come clean.
Spoiler When her brother is threatened, she should immediately tell Blade so that he could, one, know that there is a threat and protect him, and two, clean house to eliminate the threat. No she is going to continue to deceive her family even though she is essentially being blackmailed through threats. Threats that her brother in law can protect themselves from.
Since this happened and she didn't come clean until the end,
Spoiler Which at this point, at least she could offer some protection being a werewolf.
I just never did end up liking her much.

Now Will. I loved Will. I felt for him because he truly was trying to protect those that he loved. He takes things at face value and says it like it is. I feel like he is pulled into Lena's deception and maybe without trying to protect her secrets, he could have help sooner. Still he is driven by his connection to Lena, obviously a mate connection, so I can understand.

The support characters that are her friends and family are once again, interesting. Makes you want to know more. But the evil character, the Duke, is just 2 dimensional evil and you know he is always going to be there when she is alone. It was a little irritating actually. You knew it but she had no idea. Too easily seen coming, too many times.

I did like most of it, Lena not withstanding, and the world and politics are definitely intriguing. Whether I'll continue... I really don't know. I have other series I would want to get back to first I think.
