Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi

hmmm….unsure!

i expected to love love love this book because everyone else seems to but unfortunately i didn’t really

on the surface, it was just a nice little read that had a cosy atmosphere and a nice premise. very easy to read and i think overall i’d say yeah i enjoyed it. it did make me cry!! but that’s not hard lol

however i couldn’t completely enjoy it because things were bugging me the whole time. the repetition of the rules and the amount of telling not showing was a bit tiresome. maybe it’s a cultural difference but the emotional beats the author was clearly trying to lead me to did not hit with a lot of them? especially the one with the sisters.
if my parents had disowned me for not running an inn i simply would not go back and run the inn. and surely the younger sister is just as selfish as the older one for trying to make the older one come back when she clearly didn’t want to?

overall the female characters all felt a bit too self-sacrificing for my liking, like after the first instance i wasn’t buying it

but would i recommend it … yeah probably ??? everyone else likes it lol
