This spanned many years of Anne's college life, including her summers at home in Avonlea or part time placements at other schools. It focused a lot on the busy social aspects of that period of time, with a strong emphasis on courting and engagement. Anne's confidence in herself waxes and wanes throughout this book and there are moments where she feels lost and unsure of her path. But she finds her way again and the conclusion returns to the soft, cozy familiar scenery of Avonlea.
