Freed: Fifty Shades Freed as Told by Christian
by E.L. James
I should receive an award for pushing through and finishing this book or at least my money back! Freed was absolutely painful and brutal to get through. Of the Fifty Shades series, Fifty Shades Freed was by far my favorite, so I was excited to read Freed, reflecting Christian's POV. That being said, I completely regret ever purchasing this book.
80% of Freed was extremely dull and pointless. There was an ABUNDANT amount of unnecessary detail and the action/suspenseful scenes were grazed over. E.L. James wrote, in detail, Christian's every thought and day-to-day actions. Readers got to know his day-to-day work life, his correspondences with his team, his insecurities, his inner battle with himself, and his obsession with Ana.
This book had a lot of potential but was poorly executed. Cutting out half of the mindless details could have made for a better book. I was hoping that E.L. James would focus more in detail on the action/suspenseful scenes and I wanted more of Christian's inner thoughts and feelings around those sections. She could have also highlighted more on Ana's pregnancy and the birth of their son too. Instead, Freed was a huge disappointment and I would not recommend it to others.
