The Bone Season: Author's Preferred Text
by Samantha Shannon
The anxiety this f-ing book gave me!!
Overall, this was a great read. It was urban fantasy meets sci fi and it was like nothing I ever read before.
It wasn’t perfect. It did drag a bit and I sometimes didn’t feel super connected to all the characters. But I liked Paige and Warden.
Random stream of consciousness:
when they said slow burn, damn they mean it. The love interests (?) didn’t even kiss until like 98% in.
The opening chapter was one of the best 1st chapters I have ever read.
This world was pretty confusing. There were a ton of characters and elements and it was hard to keep up at times, but the author did a great job explaining and you really didn’t need to know every single thing to enjoy the plot. I just went with the flow with this one and it worked out for me.
I love the crime element of this.
This should 100% be a tv show.
Where the hell do we go after this?
I saw that this series is going to be 7 books long in total with 4 books already out. Idk how that’s going to be since I tend to lose interest easily but I bought the next 3 books (and 2 novellas) on a manic whim so we shall see!
Anyways, if you like sci fi, urban fantasy, dystopian worlds, kiss ass FMC, and women who commit crimes, read this book.
