The Night Tiger
by Yangsze Choo
There's so much happening, so many characters, and mythologies (those I loved!) that you don't entirely understand the story the author's trying to tell. So much fuss is made about a certain magical narrative and it fizzles out like a wet cracker. Also, I didn't care much for Shin - he might've been intended as one of the handsome, charming leads, but comes off as an asshole.
Though the Night Tiger has an intriguing premise, it is at best an unsatisfactory read. That notwithstanding, I quite liked the author's style of writing. I liked it enough to want to read her debut novel, The Ghost Bride. Here's hoping that it'll be better than this one.
