The Last Chance Library
by Freya Sampson
I am EXTREMELY surprised this book's avg. review rating isn't at least over the 4-star mark. I work in a library (and am writing this review while working), so the general setting of this book was very familiar to me and easy to read since I work every day in the situations that June describes.
I felt very close and connected to June. She felt like a sister or a close, close friend to me. She's likeable, quirky and overall just a joy to read about. I read this book so quickly because I enjoyed the characters so much. They were all wonderfully written, hence my confusion as why it has such mixed reviews. There's not really anything to hate about in this story. June lives happily ever after, and the in-between of her getting there is realistic and believable and not over the top.
