Cole McCade has a way with words that draws me in. I’ve read his Albin Academy series so this is the first time I’m reading this genre. I always love a good crime plot, especially when there is queer romance involved.

As this is the first book, not much has really happened but you can really feel the tension. I like that he doesn’t just flirt with the potential. He just puts it there leaving it up to you to decide how you want to navigate the rest of it.

The first murder is definitely gory and dark but I love it. I also love that the focus is on queer kids. This actually reminds me a bit of a cross between Marshall Thornton’s Boystown series and Jeffery Round’s Dan Sharp series.

Looking forward to the rest.
