Nice fantasy adventure with a distinct-feeling magic system and a strong cast of morally gray characters. Has a lot of questions about agency and whether or not morality can be consistent. Pacing is very uneven, and some locations feel a little pointless, but the book is very ambitious and it mostly realizes its ambitions even if it's a bit inconsistent. Very heavy subject matter, look up trigger warnings before reading.
