They Did Bad Things: A Thriller by Lauren A. Forry
3.0
2.5 stars
The book description of being like And Then There Were None and The Last Time I Lied were what hooked me on reading this and I could see some of that while reading. It also had a Clue vibe to it...a bunch of people in a locked house with a killer. One of the characters even makes a joke about it, which I thought fell flat.
From the beginning, this story wasn't too great for me. The flashbacks in time were strange and the writing was choppy. Something happened really early in the story to a major player and I felt like it was rushed and didn't fit. I would have given it 3 stars until the ending. I felt like the author added something (the "twist") that came out of nowhere and I felt cheated. I invested all this time reading it for that?
Thank you to Edelweiss and Arcade Crimewise for my digital arc in exchange for my honest review.
