Graphic mention of animal testing/abuse (in a very flippant tone). Utterly predictable. The writing is fine. Criminally overhyped.

The FMC says “oh” and “um” every time she opens her mouth. Her friends are all supposed to be brilliant scientists but can’t tell that she’s lying about her relationship even though it is blatantly obvious. The plot is spoiled by “subtle” hints that aren’t subtle at all.

Also very clearly a polished up Reylo fan fic. No hate on fan fics, I love them and read them regularly, but this one should never have become a book imo.

That being said, it does pass the bechdel test thank god. Lots of feminism and strong female characters. Consent is important to the characters and clearly sought after (although the Title IX jokes were a bit uncomfortable).

Really my biggest issue is how unoriginal this was. And a bit on the nose that the MMC was named “Adam” when his description was clearly based on Adam Driver.
