This book is the epitome of “don’t judge a book by it’s cover” because I never would have bought this if it wasn’t highly recommended by a friend. I’m so glad I did though! Ildiko and Brishen were PERFECT. I loved their respect for each other and friendship, and Draven did such a wonderful job of slowly transitioning that into love.

I did wish for more plot outside of their arranged marriage. With this being the first in a series, I can understand needing to establish this world and Ildiko/Brishen’s relationship, but it felt like the majority of the plot’s moving pieces were pushed into the last fifty pages. A small complaint because I was more than satisfied to just read their love story, but since it did dictate the book’s ending, I would’ve liked more time spent on the unease between the kingdoms.
