'Kay, so, this slapped. I was NOT expecting the twist coming at the end. I sort of called where it was going at first, but not the ending or the final letter, and knowing where it was going didn't completely ruin the book for me or even soil it a bit. Went through it in one sitting (really two in one day because I had to stop to meet a deadline for something halfway through). I do wish that we had gotten more from the protagonist's sleepwalking--it felt like that could have gone somewhere more, and then it didn't, which was a bit disappointing, but I'm happy with the novel we got! I'll definitely be thinking about it for a long while. I think some of the criticisms I've seen to the tune of "I don't like this decision a character made so the book is bad" do forget that the protagonist of a novel is not necessarily supposed to be a direct transplant of the reader.

This was my first Colleen Hoover and, based on this experience, it won't be my last! I want to take this book apart and study it like an autopsy. Or, like, something similar but without the connotations of being dead.

Jokes aside, I do want to take a bit to study this one. It'd be a keep for my shelf if this particular copy wasn't borrowed from someone else.
