Girls of Paper and Fire
by Natasha Ngan
**2.5/3 out of 5 stars**
I was very on the fence on reading this book.
I know some have loved it, while others have hated it.
Going in to reading this I had low expectations because of how others were saying the representation of the trigger warnings in this book were written (TW for Sexual Assault and Violence).
I thought that how the TW content was written and handled well. They weren't explicit in how they were written that I think it would make the book unreadable.
The characters in this book were bearable to get through. I thought Wren was the most interesting character out of them all, and she wasn't our main girl. The main character Lei I felt like I just couldn't connect with her and she was boring and wasn't unique to me. The other Paper Girls were fine too, but I did not connect to any of them either. The Demon King to me was like any other typical "villian" character. Nothing was too unique about him either.
I think the part of the book I found to be most entertaining was the caste system with the demons and humans and the world that the story was written in. I wanted to learn more about the demons and caste system than I did the whole Paper Girl life.
Overall, I think I will continue reading this series, but I will probably just read them through my local library and not actually own the books.
