His at Night by Sherry Thomas
2.0

2.5 - There were some lovely bits to this book, Elissande is an interesting character and I think abuse and recovery are depicted well (especially how insidious emotional abuse is), but I had soooo many issues regarding consent, honesty, and the frequent awfulness of the hero (and also the muddle of him dropping his persona inconsistently and the very smart heroine not noticing) that I can't give this more than two stars. The first Sherry Thomas book I read also had MAJOR consent issues but I was hoping it wouldn't be a recurring theme because she is so highly recommended by so many, including Courtney Milan; it seems likely that's not the case.
