I read some of the reviews without spoilers before reading, so I was mentally prepared for a disappointing ending. HOWEVER, it is not disappointment in the writing style. Renee Ahdieh has a way with words that makes every thing she writes amazing, beautiful, even mesmerizing in a way. But I am not happy with the ending. Solely because

Arjun. You don't get to make me love him and Pippa in book 3 and do me dirty in book 4 and get 4 stars. Had he had a different fate, I would have given 4 or 5 stars regardless of Celine and Bastien's end. But after that, my heart wasn't in it. I reread several times hoping the words would change. I could careless about Celine and Bastien's possible forever after. I'm also upset about Jae, however his character was not in the last 2 books as much so it didn't hit as hard as Arjun.

Yes, Celine's actions were annoying, but definitely realistic.

With her basically being isolated with her manipulative mother in the Wyld, her poor decisions were not super surprising, but it's so disappointing that she was so clouded by anger at the end that she destroyed everything. I mean, I know it's titled The RUINED, but STILL. How did she go from being "the tamer of beast" to destroyer of all joy. It's a real bummer that Bastien didn't see how hateful his sister was after what she did to Nicodemus. If he wasn't so forgiving and had been done with her earlier, it could gone a little differently.
