Mansion Beach: A Novel
by Meg Mitchell Moore
I liked this one and all the Gatsby tie ins. I thought the author did a decent job retelling the original but it didn’t feel like a true modern retelling, more like just based on Gatsby with freedom to change things around. Ultimately I got a little bored and I went back and forth on how I felt about having Juliana’s point of view. Half of the magic of the original is not having that. But it did allow us to get a deeper look at the extent of her fraud. Finally, only one death in the end kind of takes away from the tragedy of the whole thing.
