Grayality
by Carey P.W.
I'm giving this three stars because of its heart. You immediately fall in love with Pate, his kindness and vulnerability. The queer fears and discoveries and the joy of finding your community is so real, coming from a place of understanding.
If it weren't for these, the rating would have been lower. The characters of Cloverleaf felt like caricatures, with their campy names and basic small ranching town personalities. The relationships were fast and felt juvenile. The writing seemed immature. The story was predictable.
Over-all, this wasn't something I'd necessarily recommend. But it still is valid as a queer story that deserves be told.
I received this book for free from Veracious Readers.
