I was invited to read this story by the publisher, and the summary had all the elements that typically catch my eye. The plot was unique and I thought the idea of the sleepless was very creative, but try as might I just could not get invested in the story.
There were parts of the story that seemed redundant - Artair hurries to bind himself, Lucian comes forward and banters with Elver, repeat - and the pacing was very slow. I found my mind wandering at times and it took effort to redirect my focus back on the page. I think this story has potential and will resonate with many readers, it just didn’t engage me personally.
Thank you to NetGalley, Wednesday Books, and St. Martin’s Press for the e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
