I didn't realise just how much I missed this world until I started this book... and now I am very sad I have to leave it behind again.
While I absolutely devoured all the major clan politics in the main series, I really loved getting a fresh perspective from someone from a minor clan in this novella.
I was immediately reimmersed in this world and it was just an amazing ride all the way through.
Now, I wasn't expecting to get so invested in so few pages... but it's Fonda Lee, so I should've known better. The stakes were high, the plot was engaging and the character work was excellent, but is anyone really surprised by that at this point?!
I think you can read this novella at any time in your Greenbone journey, but I am personally really glad I read it after finishing the series. There are some cameos from characters that we've grown to love over the main books and it was amazing to see them back here. I don't think I would've been this emotionally invested if I wasn't already familiar with this world, its politics and the characters.
Another amazing instalment in the Greenbone Saga. My only complaint is that it was over too soon. I can't get enough of this world and of Fonda Lee's writing! Brilliant novella.
