Holiday Romance Readathon 2023: 20

A lot of people I follow on my bookstagram have been posting their favourite reads of 2023 lists, and I've been wanting to join in on that trend, but was worried about doing that with a third of the month left, because what if I found a new favourite book?? It was unlikely, but it could happen.

And happen it did. I saw a friend's ARC review of this, and having loved Chef's Choice so much when I read it in November, I immediately went and found this audiobook and started on it.

I love everything about this book. The writing style, the humour, the characters, the setting, the angst. I am a sucker for books with trans main characters, and friends-to-lovers, and single parent romances, and characters that could potentially be on the ace-spectrum but fuck labels they're just queer, leave it at that. I also really enjoyed reading a story set around Christmas in a warmer client, because as a southern hemispherian, I can identify with that.

There were a lot of parts in this book that made me want to cry, and a lot of bits that made me wish I'd been reading the ebook or a paperback so I could annotate it. I'm just going to have to buy a paperback and reread it at some point.
