This book felt like a fairytale in its own right, full of dark creatures and magic and a strong hero. I love stories like this that retell familiar tales into more familiar context. My joy in reading this matched that of when I read Miller’s Circe or Song of Achilles. Excellent book. Underrated in popular fantasy culture.
