Elektra Volume 1: Bloodlines by

3.0

So, everything I know about Elektra is from that infamous Daredevil movie with Ben Affleck (I actually thought it wasn't that bad, but what the heck do I know?).
It seems like Marvel is giving every random guy they own a title lately and I was curious about this. Let me start my saying that the art is gorgeous. It seems like Del Mundo is painting, not drawing and it's such a different style to what I'm used to that it's such a breath of fresh air. Unfortunately, the story doesn't live up to the art. Elektra is sick of New York so she goes to see The Matchmaker (spoiler, she matches assassins with would-be-killed-people), whoever that is. She enlist her in bringing back alive a absolutely known (in which world?) Cape Crow and off to the mission we go. There's a guy dressed as a cheetah or some feline (great way to give felines a bad reputation, you moron!) who loves killing people and eating then later and is on Elektra's way. And yadda yadda yadda.
There's nothing inherently wrong with the story but there's also nothing really interesting either. Show me a villain I can fear! Or people I know! Give Elektra a hobby that doesn't involve blood flying around before the poor woman has to spend all her money in therapy!

I'll give the second volume a try if only because of the art and here's hoping there's a more interesting story coming.

FYI, if you want to read a good comic about an assassin, pick up the new Black Widow. Also pretty awesome-looking and the story is good, unlike this.
