Sophie is a bright and pretty girl who loves her family. Joseph Argenton is a morose man who is haunted by the dark past of his family, when he sees Sophie she brings a brightness to his life he decided he needs. Events transpire and they are to be wed and Sophie is brought to the ancestral Argenton home. The house is riddled with shadows and Joseph is keeping secrets. Will Sophie survive the darkness that threatens to consume her, Joseph, and the rest of his family?

An excellent gothic tale spun by Darcy Coates, not her usual fare but still very much a quintessential Coates read.
