The Principle of Moments by Esmie Jikiemi-Pearson
4.0
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters, Asha and Obi especially. There were times when this felt a little easy, like, all the montage moments of 'we have to learn how to do this, we have to get here, etc.' were literally just skipped entirely, which I didn't exactly hate but there are definitely authors who would've dug into those moments and made them pivotal, who would've had all this interesting character development or a seemingly nothing moment prove monumental, and instead they were just fast-forwarded. And, honestly, my other big issue with this was that whoever the copy editor was fucked this author over. There were so many typos and not just grammatical ones, but like the name of a ship misspelled. This book deserved so much better than that because it was genuinely great and interesting and the characters really sung and it was hamstrung but stupid stuff that took you out of the story. I really hope they either change the copy editor on the next book or just devote more attention to it because the fact that this was the final print is embarrassing for this imprint, and this author and these characters deserve better.
