The Great When by Alan Moore
Did not finish book.
2.0
DID NOT FINISH
I'm giving this 2 stars simply because the concept moved this above a 1 star rating. That said, were he speaking I'd say Moore is the kind of guy that just loves the sound of his own voice. He almost seems to write with the sole point of trying to obscure what he is saying and it's more than just using 20 words when one would suffice.
There's a of British idiom and slang in here and frankly I knew that mission was dangerous when I took it, so don't think that's what I'm getting at. What I'm saying is that the language is so flowery and ornate that you absolutely lose the thread of what he's saying, though I'd argue he's the one who lost the thread.
This is a book that could have been salvaged by a strong editor or at least one with a different perspective. Apparently the book has been optioned for film and I cannot imagine how this will play out if they try (how??) they stay faithful to the book.
