This book was interesting. I liked the idea and the premise of it the characters were likable, but it fell flat on the execution of it I think. It definitely could have used more comprehensive editing.
The exposition and world building were clunky, inserted all throughout the book to the point that we only had like 30 minutes left and it was still giving world-building exposition. And honestly, a lot of the exposition was stuff that wasn't even important for the reader to know. It was important for the writer to know it, but it didn't pertain to the story and didn't even contribute anything to it.
I also didn't like that there were new characters brought in for the last half of the book and we didn't get to see their relationship grow with Nova. They were almost immediately best friends and a possible love interest? I don't know, her relationship with both of them was weird and hard to pinpoint.
That being said, I really loved the development that Vanessa had with her friends at the training camp. Their relationships were developed pretty well and slowly for us to actually feel it.
Though I liked the characters and the plot, the world building and exposition really took a hit to my enjoyment of this book and I don't think I'm going to pick up the next one.
