Three Gold Coins by Josephine Moon
5.0
This is definitely a slow burner. It started out like a typical fish out of water heroine escaping to Italy and winding up in a Tuscan villa surrounded by a cast of characters and falling in love with the country, a dashing hero and finding her bliss. But be warned, this book is not typical! All of a sudden, you are given a sucker punch to the guts and your emotions are all over the shop. I laughed, cried, gasped out loud and was so creeped out that I went to check my doors were locked. Intrigued? A brilliant book, quite timely and dealing with social issues in a way that is deftly handled and unassuming in its teaching moments. I was so invested in Lara and her family and her Italian dream that I was totally immersed in the story and even now am having feelings about the issues discussed. It's been a while since a novel has kept me thinking so much after reading, and I wasn't expecting it. Josephine Moon is a star.
