I was a little devastated by this read. I really thought I'd get to explore the death-cast world, enjoy the science fiction element somewhat, see some kind of engagement with the world, but there is none. If you're looking for a romance, this may well be the book for you. But if you're interested in exploring the world, it's going to be one long let down. Keeping this spoiler free, there was a point where my love for one of the characters was really strained. Where he was able to be a perpetrator but instead of him showing remorse, it seemed that the other character displayed that far more. There was a real imbalance in the relationship which just put a dampener on a book I was doing my utmost to enjoy despite it not being the book I initially thought it was.
