All the Missing Girls by Megan Miranda
3.0

This book was a great, quick read that was fast paced and HARD to put down! Megan Miranda paints a good portrait in the beginning of her characters, and then backs up to fill in plot holes and character holes that you didn't even know were there. In terms of the plot, the story keeps the reader guessing after the first 1/4th. I was sucked in, only to find out that the story is told backwards. This was the first novel I've ever read that was written this way, and it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Though the who-done-it part of the novel didn't have the shock factor that I was craving, I did not find it predictable either.

My big critique with this book was that it was so fast paced that I felt like much of the ending went too fast. It was like we had this intense build up all throughout the book, and then we glossed over the climax. There were not a lot of specifics (which I do not fault Miranda for, as I think she was trying to indicate to the reader that the character's memory was spotty), nor was there a lot of dialogue or time spent on the aftermath. I wish the reader had gotten a little bit more dialogue between characters explaining the climax, the who-done-it, and the afterwords a little bit better.

Overall a great summer mystery read! I won't read it again but have already recommended it to a friend that enjoys mysteries.
