Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption
by Laura Hillenbrand
I rooted for Lou Zamperini all the way through the 473 pages packed with nearly unbelievable good luck, bad luck, horror, and shocking twists! What an amazing man! I appreciate Laura Hillenbrand's exhaustive research and tenacity for detail that gives a complete picture of Louie Zamperini's character and experience as a WWII POW in Japan. I was suprised at the conditions of Japanese POW camps and disregard of the Geneva Convention in those years! I especially liked how the book ended with Lou Zamperini's latest years. Oh, and Happy Birthday, Mr. Zamperini! If Wikipedia is correct, you're turning 95 this week! What a life to celebrate!
