so you just found out that you are trans. Congratulations. You just joined a political and socially besieged community. You will need a primer to navigate the political and social terrain which will be treacherous. We are misunderstood by the wider culture, our history is distorted by it, the trans people in the spotlight often are not faves of the Trans community (Kaitlyn Jenner), and Terfs and Christian conservatives want to erase us and we are even problematic sometimes in the queer community. If you want to get up to speed with the political challenges we face or are an interested outsider who wants to know what Trans people are dealing with politically and socially this book is a good primer. It was published in 2017 so is still fairly up to date. Recommended.
