The premise and magic system are intriguing, and honestly, I wanted a lot more of it. The family drama was exquisite, fun to read, and again, I wanted more of it. Halfway through, what had seemed to be set up as the main plot suddenly resolved itself, we never heard more about it, and then the second half seemed to be more focused on romantic fluff (which was admittedly also fun to read). I just wish that other characters and aspects of the plot had been more developed. Also, some of the big reveals didn't feel as shocking and impactful as it seemed that they were meant to be.
