I’m sorry what right does a silly book about a guy in boxers and his ex-girlfriend’s cat doing an intergalactically televised dungeon crawl have to break my heart like this???
and yet that’s why it’s a 5 star read.
The found family in the book is chef’s kiss, but more so is the realization that Donut has always been Carl’s cat and the intensity of their familial bond. And Donut’s fear of being abandoned (intensely relatable).
For a bit of an emotional break, there are funny scenes interspersed throughout, usually featuring Mongo, and j appreciate that.
And this one had the end credits I’ve been waiting for, Wondercrawl. 🥰
