Did not finish book. Stopped at 8%.

I could tell the author was Not African American, if that makes sense. (She is Black, but not connected to the continent in that way). Felt like it was through the eyes of academia / voyerism in comparison to Octavia Butler’s book about slavery w fantastic elements.
